“Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” And I said, “I see a branch of an almond tree.” Then the LORD said to me, “You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word.” (Jeremiah 1:11-12 NKJV)

Your life is influenced and controlled by your sight or vision to a considerable extent. It is difficult to live well if you cannot see well. The significance of a good sight or vision in life cannot be overemphasized.

Your failure to see clearly in your mind the bright and colorful future God has diligently mapped out for you will ultimately erode your confidence, peace, and joy today.

If you are restless, fearful, troubled, worried, or anxious about the coming New Year, it indicates that you are not seeing what God has in store for you in the New Year.

It simply means that you are spiritually blind to God’s good plans and promises for you and your family in the coming New Year.

Doubt, unbelief, fear, restlessness, worry, and anxiety are primary symptoms of spiritual impairment.

While Jeremiah stood on the threshold of his destiny, God began to emphasize his ability to see well what He was saying, showing, or doing in his generation.

First, God would have Jeremiah see his true spiritual position among the nations and kingdoms. This is very significant!

God said to Jeremiah, “See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out and to pull down, to destroy and to throw down, to build and to plant.” (Jer. 1:10 NKJV).

Similarly, as you stand today on the threshold of the New Year, God would have you to see clearly where He has spiritually set or positioned you in Christ. You cannot afford to enter into the New Year without seeing your exalted position in Christ well.

As a born-again believer, you were dead with Christ, quickened with Christ, raised with Christ, and now seated in Christ in the heavenly realm.

Paul aptly states this truth.

Ephesians 2:5-7 – NKJV

5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

This implies that you are presently seated “far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.” (Eph. 1:21 NKJV).

Therefore, there is no cause for you to be fearful or fretful because of the New Year’s threats, plans, or plots of demonic powers.

You are far above them in Christ Jesus. Because of your highly exalted position in Christ, you wield unlimited spiritual authority over all evil forces.

Just as God said to Jeremiah, He is saying to you today, “See, I have given you power to put your feet on snakes and evil beasts, and over all the strength of him who is against you: and nothing will do you damage.” (Luke 10:19 BBE).

Indeed, the devil and his cohorts will be alive and active in the coming New Year; nevertheless, they cannot harass, hurt, or hinder you from prospering, succeeding, and accomplishing God’s purposes for your life, family, business, or ministry in the New Year.

How can that be?

By seeing clearly that you are seated in Christ far above them!

If you can see well that you are far above all your adversaries in Christ, you will surely live well above them.

Your sight determines how you act and react toward the threats of your enemies. When you see clearly that you are above them, you will never be moved, troubled, or shaken by any of their threats or plots.

Undoubtedly, many fatal accidents, natural disasters, epidemics, wars, and deaths will happen in the coming New Year.

How will you escape all these evils and finish the New Year unhurt and untouched by any evil?

By seeing now that your life is hidden with Christ in God (Col. 3:3)!

By seeing well that the Lord has set you far above all evils and thus nothing shall by any means hurt you!

Your vision determines your conviction. Your conviction determines your confession. Your confession determines your portion in life.

Therefore, you must enter the New Year with a clear vision of your exalted and secure position in Christ Jesus.

This will give you the confidence to live and walk securely every day of the New Year without fear, stress, agitation, worry, or anxiety about anything.

Second, while standing on the threshold of his calling and destiny, God would have Jeremiah see what He was set to do in his days.

Therefore, the LORD asked him, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” And I said, “I see a branch of an almond tree.” Then the LORD said to me, “You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word.” (Jer. 1:11-12 NKJV).

The Almond tree is a tree that blossoms early and speedily. It is called “the wakeful tree” because it awakes from the sleep of winter earlier than the other trees, flowering in January and bearing fruit in March (JFB Commentary).

A branch of an almond tree is symbolic of God’s early execution of His purpose or readiness to perform His word. You also must see God performing His promises early and speedily in your life this coming New Year.

Beloved, don’t allow any failure, setback, disappointment, delay, or denial you might have experienced this passing year to impair or becloud your sight or imagination.

Arise, shake off this year’s dust, and lift your head to see far beyond your present condition or situation.

As God said to Abraham, He is saying to you today, “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are-northward, southward, eastward, and westward; “for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever.” (Gen. 13:14-15 NKJV).

Friend, as you are standing today at the threshold of the New Year, what do you see when you lift your eyes and look from where you are now?

Like Jeremiah, do you see a branch of an almond tree?

Do you see God hastening His promises to be fulfilled in your life this coming New Year?

Do you see yourself triumphing, succeeding, prospering, and accomplishing God’s purposes and visions for your life in the New Year?

If you do, “You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word,” says the LORD. (Jer. 1:11-12 NKJV).

I wish you and your family a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

Prayer: My Dear Heavenly Father, I can see You bringing all Your good and great promises and prophecies concerning my life, family, business, and ministry to pass early and speedily in this New Year. Father, I can see well that You have set me far above all devils and evils in this New Year, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
