“But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.” (1 Corinthians 6:17 NKJV)
From the point you became born again through faith alone in the person and finished work of Jesus Christ, you have become an entirely new creation. From God’s perspective, you are now a new self, being, and person in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17).
While many people around you may still see or deal with you as the same old person, God will never again deal with you or relate with you according to your former sinful, selfish, corrupt, and rebellious self.
In the first part of this piece, we examined who the new creation is and what He has in Christ.
As a born-again believer, you must begin to see, think, live, walk, or operate in this evil world as a new creation from the point you experienced the new birth. This is the only way to live a triumphant, overcoming, and prosperous Christian life in this anti-Christ world.
Let us briefly recap what we have discovered about the new creation.
First, the new creation possesses God’s kind of nature.
You were born with a sinful, selfish, and corrupt nature inherited from Adam. It was that nature that made you a slave of Sin and Satan. But through the new birth, you have become a partaker of God’s holy and loving nature (2 Pet 1:1-4, 1 John 3:9).
Second, the new creation possesses everlasting life.
In Adam, you were dead spiritually, alienated from God’s life, but in Christ, you are spiritually alive, possessing God’s kind of life (Zoe). Everlasting life is not a future promise but a present reality or possession of the new creation (John 3:36).
In Part 2, we shall continue to examine what the Scripture reveals about the New Creation.
Third, the new creation possesses the Spirit of Christ.
The new creation has the Spirit of Christ.
Romans 8:9-10 – NKJV
9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.
10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
Galatians 4:6 – NKJV
6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!”
Also, as a new creation, you are like Christ in your recreated or born-again spirit.
1 Corinthians 6:17 – NKJV
17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
1 Corinthians 15:48 – NKJV
48 As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly.
1 John 4:17 – NKJV
17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.
Fourth, the new creation possesses the mind of Christ.
The new creation has the mind of Christ. Your born-again spirit is renewed in knowledge after the image of Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:16 – NKJV
16 For “who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
The new creation “is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.” (Col. 3:10 NKJV).
Therefore, the new creation knows everything in his regenerated and anointed heart, though his physical mind is limited in knowledge (Heb. 8:10-11).
John the Beloved clearly states this truth.
1 John 2:20, 27 – NKJV
20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.
27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.
Fifth, the new creation in Christ is God’s Beloved.
As a new creation, you are unconditionally, completely, eternally loved, favored, pleasing, and acceptable to God in Christ (John 17:23).
The Scripture reveals that God has “predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He has made us accepted in the Beloved.” (Eph. 1:5-6 NKJV).
Beloved, quit seeking, striving, or struggling to impress God or earn God’s love, acceptance, favor, or blessing by your self-righteousness, performance, or good works. Why?
Because as a new creation, you are unconditionally, completely, and eternally loved by God, accepted by God, favored by God, and blessed by God in Christ Jesus—His Beloved Son!

Prayer:
Dear Holy Spirit, teach and help me daily to live as the new creation, as one who is unconditionally and eternally loved and accepted by God in Christ, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
