“Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God.” (2 Corinthians 3:5 NKJV).
While Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, God suddenly interrupted his daily routine and called his attention to his real divine purpose, mission, or assignment in life.
From the midst of the bush burning with fire but strangely not consumed, God called Moses, saying, “Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” (Exo. 3:10 NKJV).
Moses was actually born for this purpose – to deliver and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt, the house of bondage. All that Moses had gone through in life was actually to prepare him to accomplish this divine purpose, mission, or assignment in life.
Likewise you, all that you have gone through in life is intended by God to prepare you to accomplish your divine purpose, mission, or assignment in life in due time.
Although God had divinely and thoroughly prepared, enabled, furnished, or equipped Moses to fulfil his divine mission or assignment in life, yet Moses was totally unaware of this and thus still felt very inadequate and reluctant to step out and fulfil his divine mission in life when the set time came.
Moses, like many believers today, ignorantly thought that God was seeking for a perfect person or a superman to use to accomplish His purpose.
Therefore, when God called Moses, he protested, saying, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.” (Exo. 4:10 NKJV).
If God only uses perfect people to accomplish His divine plans and purposes on earth, then God would certainly find no man worthy of His use; for there is none who is absolutely perfect in all his thoughts, ways, emotions, or actions in God’s sight (Job 25:4-6).
But, praise to God that He does not wait for us to attain moral or spiritual perfection before He uses us. There is no man God has ever used or will ever use that is or will be absolutely worthy, qualified, or competent for God’s use.
God’s calling is not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace given to us in Christ Jesus. This is why “the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.” (Rom. 11:29 NKJV).
Apostle Paul affirms this pivotal truth in his letter to Timothy.
2 Timothy 1:
8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God,
9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began. (NKJV).
God uses us in spite of our human weaknesses, deficiencies or inadequacies so that He alone may receive all the glory for all the exploits or great feats we do or accomplish in His strength and wisdom.
If God calls and uses supermen, perfect or most qualified men to do great exploits, they will likely share the glory with God for the exploits God did through them.
1 Corinthians 1:
27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;
28 and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are,
29 that no flesh should glory in His presence. (NKJV).
When God called Moses to be His divine instrument for the deliverance of the children of Israel from the yoke of slavery and bondage of Pharaoh, he was very reluctant to undertake the mission because he could see nothing in his life or hand that God can really use.
How mistaken he was!
For God had already placed in Moses’ life and hand all that He would need to successfully accomplish his divine mission or assignment.
However, in order to convince Moses that God had already equipped and anointed him for the mission he was called to undertake, God said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A rod.” And He said, “Cast it on the ground.” So he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from it.” (Exo. 4:2-3 NKJV).
Afterwards, Moses was asked to pick up his rod again. Then God said to him, “And you shall take this rod in your hand, with which you shall do the signs.” (Exo. 4:17 NKJV).
Moses returned to Egypt with nothing but his rod and he did nothing in Egypt without his rod!
Beloved, like Moses, what God has deposited, invested, or placed in your life and in your hands is suitable enough to successfully accomplish God’s purpose if you will present or surrender it to God just as Moses presented and surrendered his rod to God.
Like Moses, you already have in your life and in your hands what God can bless and use to accomplish His divine purpose through you. God has been preserving, preparing and equipping you for what He created you to accomplish for Him from your childhood.
God will not call any man to undertake any mission or assignment for Him without preparing, equipping and enabling the man. Whatever God is calling you to do is what He has already adequately prepared, equipped and anointed you to accomplish.
The truth is this; you are already anointed and empowered by God to successfully carry out your divine assignment or mission in life.
Apostle Paul testifies to this truth in his epistle to the Corinthians.
2 Corinthians 1:
21 Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God,
22 who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. (NKJV).
2 Corinthians 3:
5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God,
6 who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. (NKJV).
Friend, if God says it is time for you to step out and undertake a mission for Him, it means He has fully anointed or enabled you for the mission, for no soldier goes to war at his own expense (1 Cor. 9:7).
Paul writes, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Eph. 2:10 NKJV).
Like Moses, God has already placed “the rod” you need for your mission or assignment in your hand (2 Cor. 1:21, 2 Pet. 1:3).
You already have what you need to begin to do what God is calling you to do where you are right now. Paul states, “For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.” (Philip. 2:13 NKJV).
Therefore, don’t be discouraged by your human weakness, disability or impairment. God has taken all that into consideration before calling you by His grace to fulfil His purpose through you.
Also, don’t let the devil incapacitate, stagnate, or hold you down or back from stepping out to fulfil your divine calling, mission or assignment in life through the thoughts or feelings of unworthiness, incompetence, inadequacies, or insufficiency.
The truth is this; you are not and will never be worthy, competent or sufficient on your own, based on your works, self-righteousness, or performance for God’s use. Your calling is simply “…according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.” (2 Tim. 1:9 NKJV).
Your sufficiency, adequacy or competency is from God!
2 Corinthians 3:
5 not that we are competent of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves, but our competency is of God;
6 who has also made us competent, as ministers of the new covenant; not of letter, but of spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit quickens. (DBY).
When the devil assails your mind with the thoughts of unworthiness, incompetence, inadequacies, or insufficiency for God’s use, you can quell, subdue or overcome his assault by taking the shield of faith – remembering, believing, acknowledging and confessing that although you are not sufficient on your own; rather, your sufficiency or competence is from God.
It is God who has made you worthy, sufficient, qualified, or competent as His minister or vessel!
You must never forget that your calling is not based on your works but on the “…grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.” (2 Tim. 1:9 NKJV).
1 Corinthians 1:

Therefore, quit feeling unworthy, inadequate, incompetent or insufficient to successfully carry out your divine assignment or to fulfil your divine calling or mission in life.
Friend, rise up today with “your rod” in your hand unreservedly yielded to God to bring God’s deliverance and blessing to the peoples and nations God has sent you to. They have been waiting for your arrival and ministry.
Don’t keep them waiting in bondage any longer!
Prayer: My Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for preparing me from birth and childhood to be a great instrument in Your hand. I surrender my life unreservedly to You today to use as it pleases You for Your glory and for the blessing of many nations and generations, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
