YOU HAVE GOD’S LIFE IN YOU

by Sep 5, 2020September

“And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” (1 John 5:11-12 NKJV).

At the point of New Birth, the believers become the partakers of the very life of God – the everlasting life.

Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life.” (John 6:47 NKJV).

John the Beloved testifies, “And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. (1 John 5:11-12 NKJV).

Everlasting life is not a future promise, but a present reality, possession or inheritance of the New Creation in Christ.

The Life Jesus gives to those who believe in Him is spiritual, divine, supernatural, heavenly, limitless, timeless, or everlasting. It is not inferior in any respect to the Life God has in Himself; rather, it is the very Life of God, the same Life that Christ evinced while in the world (1 John 1:1-3).

The Lord Jesus amply states this truth.

John 5:21, 26 – NKJV

21 For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will.

26 For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself.

John 17:1-3 – NKJV

1 Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You,

2 “as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him.

3 “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

Therefore, every born-again believer presently carries within him the very life of God (the eternal life) to live an overcoming, victorious, triumphant, successful and prosperous life in this world.

This is God’s invaluable treasure in the believer’s mortal body!

This is what distinguishes the believers from the unbelievers!

John 3:36 – NKJV

36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.

While the unbelievers are still dead in their sins, the believers have been quickened or made alive together with Christ.

Ephesians 2:1-6 – NKJV

1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,

2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,

3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,

5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

It is also God’s life in the believers that transmits or imparts God’s consciousness, knowledge, or understanding to the believers. Eternal life is the spiritual capacity to know God intimately!

The Lord Jesus explains, “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” (John 17:3 NKJV).

Apostle John also testifies, “And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.” (1 John 5:20 NKJV).

Every born-again believer has an inherent spiritual capacity to hear, know, discern or understand God’s voice.

The Lord Jesus affirms, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” (John 10:27 NKJV).

It is only those who have God’s life in them that are capable of enjoying intimacy with God. The unbelievers who are still dead in their sins and trespasses cannot enjoy or experience intimate and loving relationship with God because they have no life of God in them.

What does God expect the believers to do with His Life in them?

First, God wants the born-again believers to rejoice and glory always in the life He has given them.

Jeremiah 9:23-24 – NKJV

 23 Thus says the LORD: “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in his riches;

24 But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, That I am the LORD, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,” says the LORD.

There is nothing in this world that can compare with having eternal life, thereby knowing God intimately and enjoying a loving and eternal relationship with God through Christ Jesus.

Eternal life (knowing God intimately) is the most invaluable treasure in this world!

Sadly, many believers today don’t understand and appreciate the worth or significance of having God’s very life in them in this world.

You will constantly rejoice and glory in God regardless of your circumstances if you truly know God intimately and know that you have within you the overcoming, triumphant, or victorious life of God.

Second, God wants you to constantly and clearly reveal, express, or manifest the beauty of His Life in you to the world so that the world may glorify God.

The Lord Jesus commands you to “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matt. 5:16 NKJV).

The life of God is the light of men!

John reveals, “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” (John 1:4 NKJV).

Therefore, anyone without the life of God in him has no light in him; he is walking in darkness. The born-again believers are the light of the world because of the life of God in them.

Matthew 5:14-16 – NKJV

14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.

15 “Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.

16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

As a believer carrying the life of God in you, it is expected of you to give light to the world.

How?

You should no longer think, speak or walk as the unbelievers or the unregenerate people who have no life of God in them. Your speech, conduct or lifestyle should express or manifest God’s nature or character to the unbelievers.

Ephesians 4:17-18 – NKJV

17 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind,

18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart.

1 Peter 2:11-12 – NKJV

11 Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul,

12 having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.

Philippians 2:14-15 – NKJV

14 Do all things without complaining and disputing,

15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world.

What have you been doing with God’s Life in you?

God does not want His life hidden in you. Rather, God wants you to express, show forth, or manifest His Life in you by living a holy, upright, triumphant, overcoming, victorious, successful, prosperous and fulfilled life that He has thoroughly equipped and destined you to live in this world.

The Scripture states that it is God’s desire to “show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” (Eph. 2:7 NKJV).

Beloved, God has chosen you for the praise of His glory in the world. Therefore, begin to rejoice and glory in the gift of eternal life that Christ has given you, and begin to declare God’s praise and bring glory to God by expressing the eternal life in you to the world.

Isaiah 43:21 – NKJV

21 This people I have formed for Myself; They shall declare My praise.

Ephesians 1:12 – RSV

12 We who first hoped in Christ have been destined and appointed to live for the praise of his glory.

1 Peter 2:9 – NKJV

9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

Prayer: My Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for granting me to have Your Life in me now. My Dear Holy Spirit, teach and help me daily to bring glory to God by showing forth the beauty of His Life in me to the world, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
