GOD’S RESTORATION ARMY

by Jun 18, 2020June

“So David inquired of the LORD, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?” And He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.

” (1 Samuel 30:8 NKJV)

While David and his men went to ally themselves with Achish the King of Gath under the lords of the Philistines in a battle against their brethren, the Amalekites invaded their city, Ziklag, burned it with fire and took captive all their families and carried them away (1 Sam. 30:1-3).

When you also choose to be unequally yoked with unbelievers or to ally yourself with the devil to judge, accuse, condemn, betray, or oppose God’s children, you will become vulnerable to your enemy.

Having been rejected by the lords of the Philistines, David and his men returned to Ziklag, but alas, Ziklag had been burned with fire and their wives, their sons and daughters had been taken captive.

Seeing the tragedy that had befallen them, “David and the people who were with him lifted up their voices and wept, until they had no more power to weep” (1 Sam. 30:4 NKJV).

Although David was greatly distressed and the people were speaking of stoning him to death, yet he strengthened himself in the LORD his God.

How did David strengthen himself in the LORD His God when he had lost all his physical strength in weeping over his losses?

By refocusing or resetting his mind on the faithfulness and goodness of the LORD his God!

Though David was physically and emotionally exhausted, yet he began to meditate upon God’s promises, love, faithfulness, kindness, and goodness towards him in the past.

David looked away from the ruins and losses he could see in the physical realm and fixed his eyes on the greatness, awesomeness, and the power of God to do the impossible.

That is how to strengthen yourself in the LORD your God when you are in a distress!

Having being strengthened in his inner man by focusing or fixing his mind on the LORD his God, David then began to pray and seek for God’s guidance.

1 Samuel 30:7-8 – NKJV

7 Then David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech’s son, “Please bring the ephod here to me.” And Abiathar brought the ephod to David.

8 So David inquired of the LORD, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?” And He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.”

Sadly, many believers today, unlike David, only stop at weeping and mourning over their losses, defeats, failures or tragedies in life. They would not strengthen themselves in the LORD their God by looking away from the losses, ruins, defeats, failures or tragedies they could see in the natural realm to focus and meditate on God’s love, faithfulness, kindness and power towards them just as David did.

Having received the divine mandate and marching orders to pursue the Amalekites troop and recover all that the troop had taken captive and carry away from them, David and six hundred men set out in pursuit.

But when they came to the Brook Besor, two hundred men stayed behind who were so weary, faint or exhausted that they could not cross the Brook. Therefore, they were left behind at the Brook to recuperate or regain their strength.

However, David and the four hundred men who had strengthened themselves in the LORD their God pursued still. Those four hundred men, under the apostolic leadership of David, who though physically exhausted like others yet refused to stop, give up, or turn back until they had overtaken their enemies and recovered all that they had taken from them are “the Restoration Army.”

The Church today needs such men!

During the Dark Ages of the Church when the Church leadership allied herself with the world, Satan did exactly what the Amalekites did to Ziklag when David and his men allied themselves with the Philistines.

Satan and his host of darkness invaded the Church, took many souls captive, kindled strange fire on God’s altar, defiled and drowned all the spiritual heritages and legacies bequeathed to the Church by the early apostolic fathers.

Sound doctrines of Christ were replaced with vain and empty fables, traditions, and religious rites. Many of God’s servants also began to burn and run with strange passions and selfish ambitions.

However, from the 15th century God began to stir up the hearts of some true believers in the Church to put out the strange fire the devil had kindled in the Church, to set free the captives of the devil, and to pursue and recover all the spiritual truths that the devil had drowned in religious lies and rites.

Obviously, there is still need for further and deeper reformation in the Church today. Therefore, God is raising a new breed of believers without greed to put out every strange fire of false teachings in the Church, to deliver the captives of the devil, and to recover all the lost souls, spiritual truths and territories.

Beloved, what are you going to do about the invasion, intrusion or incursion of false teachers and prophets into the Church with strange and demonic doctrines that promote division, worldliness, greediness, ungodliness, carnality and lusts?

Are you just going to take sides with the devil to cast stones of accusation and blame on Church leaders as unwise people wanted to do to David in those days?

It is not enough to weep and mourn over the present terrible spiritual and moral condition of the Church. David and his men didn’t just weep and mourn over the tragedy that had befallen them. They also took some decisive actions as directed by God.

God is raising in our generation an army of restoration, an apostolic people, a new company of reformers, to pursue and recover all the spiritual truths and legacies that were lost during the dark ages of the Church.

This rising God’s restoration army will not stop at any brooks of personal comfort, but will press forward until there is a mighty revival or reformation in the Church that will usher in a great harvest of lost souls into God’s kingdom and also prepare a glorious Church for Christ.

Friend, let us arise today like the mighty men of David from our brooks of personal comfort to give ourselves continually to evangelism or soul-winning, to spiritual warfare, to intercession, to exhortation and propagation of the wholesome word, teaching or doctrine of Christ.

These are the days of battles. We must not be like the children of Ephraim who being armed and carrying bows, yet turned back in the day of battle (Psa. 78:9).

Many souls and destinies are at stake. Therefore, you should not be at ease in Zion, watching the incursion of the devil and his agents into the Church.

God is saying to you today, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.” (1 Sam. 30:8 NKJV).

Prayer: My Dear Heavenly Father, I praise You today for the Restoration Army you are raising now in the Church. I enroll today in Your end-time Restoration Army that will pursue, overtake and recover all the spiritual truths and legacies, and souls and territories that the Church has lost, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
