THE MAN JESUS

by Oct 23, 2020October

“Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know.” (Acts 2:22 NKJV)

Jesus was fully God and fully man while He was in the world. However, while in the world, the Lord Jesus chose to operate as a man under the power of the Holy Spirit and not as God. This is why Jesus had to wait to be anointed with the Holy Spirit before He began His public ministry (Matt. 3:16, Acts 10:38).

Jesus endured or went through His sufferings, trials, temptations and persecutions in life not as God, but as a man like us. This is the only way He could be qualified to become our High Priest.

The Scripture clearly states this truth.

Hebrews 2:17 – NKJV

17 Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

18 For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.

Hebrews 4:14-15 – NKJV

14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.

15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

It is inconsistent with the Scripture to think that Jesus endured sufferings and overcame temptations while in the world as God, but not as a man (Phil. 2:5-8, Heb. 5:8).

While in the world Jesus didn’t walk in love, in holiness, or in obedience to God’s commandments as God, but as a man fully yielded to and dependent on the Holy Spirit.

Jesus, as a man, allowed Himself to be filled, led, driven, directed, controlled and governed by the Holy Spirit, thereby showing us how to live a victorious life in this world.

Mark 1:10-12 – NKJV

10 And immediately, coming up from the water, He saw the heavens parting and the Spirit descending upon Him like a dove.

11 Then a voice came from heaven, “You are My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

12 Immediately the Spirit drove Him into the wilderness.

Luke 4:1, 14 – NKJV

1 Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness.

14 Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region.

The devil would not want you to know, understand or believe that Jesus didn’t live a righteous, victorious, triumphant, and prosperous life in this world as God, but as a man fully yielded to and dependent on the Holy Spirit.

The devil would have you deceived into thinking or believing that Jesus lived a holy, victorious and successful life while on earth as God, but not as a man like yourself.

If you accept this lie of the devil, you will always live, walk or operate below God’s standard and expectation for your life.

God’s standard and expectation for your life is that you should be fully conformed to the image of His Son, Jesus Christ – that you think, speak, live, walk or operate like Jesus Christ did while in this world (Rom. 8:29, Eph. 4:13).

The Scripture clearly reveals that Jesus performed all His miracles, healings and deliverances on earth as a man, but through the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Lord Jesus said that He cast out demons by the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 12:27-28 – NKJV

27 “And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges.

28 “But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.

Peter also affirmed to the truth that Jesus performed miracles as a Man, and not as God.

Acts 2:22-24 – NKJV

22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know–

 23 “Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death;

24 “whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.

Acts 10:38 – NKJV

38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

This apparently implies that all the miracles, wonders and signs seen in Jesus’ ministry were the working of God through the Man Jesus as a seal or proof that He was indeed sent and approved of God.

The Man Jesus had to allow the Holy Spirit to work in and through Him to perform miracles, healings, deliverances, signs and wonders. Similarly, if you also allow the Holy Spirit to work in and through you, you will get the same results – miracles, healings, deliverances, signs and wonders – that Jesus got.

The same power of God which raised Christ from the dead now resides in the regenerated spirit of the believers. This power is unlimited and exceedingly great beyond what our little brains or minds can ever conceive or imagine.

The Scripture speaks of “the immeasurable greatness of his power in us who believe, according to the working of his great might which he accomplished in Christ when he raised him from the dead and made him sit at his right hand in the heavenly places.” (Eph. 1:19-20 RSV).

Therefore, any believer who is fully yielded to the Holy Spirit can also go about, like Jesus, doing good and healing all the people who are oppressed by the devil, for God is with him as He was with Jesus.

Beloved, although Jesus was fully God while on earth, yet He lived, walked, operated and performed miracles as a Man fully yielded to and dependent on the Holy Spirit.

Jesus came into the world to demonstrate to us how God wants His children to think, speak, live, walk or operate in this world.

The Man Jesus demonstrated to us that it is indeed possible for a man who is born of the Spirit of God, empowered by the Spirit of God, and fully yielded to the Spirit of God to live a holy, righteous, victorious, triumphant and fulfilled life in this fallen evil world.

Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.” (John 14:12 NKJV).

Therefore, arise today in the power of the Holy Spirit to live, walk and operate like Jesus did, and to do the works that Jesus did and even do greater works, for God is with you as He was with Jesus while He lived physically in this fallen world.

Prayer: My Dear Heavenly Father, I am so thrilled to realize today that You have placed within my regenerated spirit Your unlimited power. Help me Lord to yield myself daily to the Holy Spirit and to draw on His power daily to live a holy and victorious life, to preach the gospel of Christ, to heal the sick and to deliver the oppressed of the devil, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
