YOU HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST
“For “who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 2:16 NKJV)
The product of the new birth is a new creation in Christ, “created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.” (Eph. 4:24 RSV).
The new creation in Christ is “renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.” (Col. 3:10 NKJV).
The new creation is perfectly like Jesus Christ!
The Scripture amply states this truth:
1 Corinthians 6:17 – NKJV
17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
1 John 4:17 – NKJV
17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.
1 Corinthians 15:48 – NKJV
48 As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly.
Every born-again believer is fully conformed to Christ in his inward man. The believer’s recreated spirit has the exact mind of Christ, not a mind inferior to that of Christ by any standard.
1 Corinthians 2:16 – NKJV
16 For “who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
The mind of Christ is not a future promise to believers, but a present reality or possession of believers in Christ.
The mind of Christ as a gift to the believers in Christ is one of the major features or blessings of the New Covenant which makes it infinitely superior to the Old Covenant.
Under the Old Covenant, the laws of God were written on the tablets of stone. But under the New Covenant, God’s word is written on the regenerated hearts of the born-again believers.
Hebrews 8:10-11 – NKJV
10 “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
11 “None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them.
What are the benefits of possessing the mind of Christ?
First, the mind of Christ gives the believers the capacity to receive and discern the things of the Spirit of God:
The unregenerate or natural man who does not possess the mind of Christ cannot receive, understand or discern spiritual truths or principles.
Paul explains this truth in his epistle.
1 Corinthians 2:14-16 – WEB
14 Now the natural man doesn’t receive the things of God’s Spirit, for they are foolishness to him, and he can’t know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15 But he who is spiritual discerns all things, and he himself is judged by no one.
16 “For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he should instruct him?

” But we have Christ’s mind.
Second, the mind of Christ gives the believers the capacity to know the truths of God’s Word:
God’s Word is already written on your regenerate heart (Heb. 8:10, 10:16). Therefore, your regenerate heart always knows the truths of God’s Word.
Reading or studying God’s Word is not for the purpose of educating, training, or teaching your born-again or recreated spirit the truths of God’s Word, but to sanctify, renew or reset your natural mind according to the truths of God’s Word.
1 John 2:21 – NKJV
21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
Your born-again spirit always knows, understands and delights in God’s Word and in the perfect will of God.
Paul said, “For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man.” (Rom. 7:22 NKJV).
Third, the mind of Christ gives the believers the capacity to hear, know and recognize God’s voice and thus know God intimately:
If you are born-again, you now possess the mind of Christ in your regenerated inward man, thereby possessing the capacity to know God personally and intimately.
The Scripture amply attests to this truth:
John 10:4-5 – NKJV
4 “And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.
5 “Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.”
14 “I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own.
This scripture implies that as a born-again believer in Christ, without anyone teaching or instructing you, you know and recognize the voice of Jesus Christ in your regenerated heart.
1 John 2:27 – NKJV
27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.
If the born-again believers now possess the mind of Christ and thus the spiritual capacity to recognize God’s voice, to discern the things of the Spirit of God, and to know God personally and intimately, why then are many believers today still ignorant and confused about God’s will?
Why then are many believers still wandering or drifting about in the wilderness of life without any sense of divine direction or purpose?
Why then are many born-again believers still trapped in religious deception and illusion?
The carnal mind!
The mind of the flesh!
Every believer has two minds in them: the spiritual mind (the mind of Christ) and the natural mind (the carnal mind).
The spiritual mind is the mind of Christ that the inward man receives at the New Birth. It is the mind of the new creation, the recreated spirit, in you.

However, the carnal mind is the natural mind you received at the natural birth.

These two minds in you are contrary to one another. Their thoughts, desires, passions, affections, perceptions, motivations, or goals are not compatible, but antagonistic and averse to one another (Rom. 7:22-23).
Beloved, when you became born again, your inward man got a new mind which is exactly like that of Christ. But your outward man still retained his natural or carnal mind.
Therefore, it is possible for you to operate either by the mind of your born-again spirit (the mind of Christ) or by the mind of the flesh (the carnal mind).
Your words, actions, experiences, or results in life are determined by the mind you allow to rule, govern or dominate in you (Rom. 8:5-8).

Prayer: My Dear Heavenly Father, I am so glad and grateful to know that You have given me the exact mind of Christ at the new birth. I am so sorry for neglecting this great treasure of wisdom and knowledge in me. From today, I will begin to operate by the mind of Christ in me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
