YOU ARE COMPLETE IN CHRIST

by Apr 27, 2020April

“For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.” (Colossians 2:9-10 NKJV)

You cannot fall into temptation to sin without first being dissatisfied and drawn away or enticed by your own lust or desire.

James writes, “But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.” (James 1:14 NASB).

Adam and Eve fell into Satan’s temptation to eat the forbidden fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil because they were dissatisfied with who they were and what they had in God and thus were carried away and enticed by their own lust.

The only bait Satan dangled before Adam and Eve was the opportunity to become like someone else – like God, who they were already.

Satan lied to them, saying, “For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” (Gen. 3:5 NKJV).

Being dissatisfied with who they were and what they had in God, Adam and Eve swallowed Satan’s deadly bait and died spiritually (became alienated from the life of God) and thus lost everything.

Satan has not changed his bait or means of tempting man. He will only tempt you in the area of your dissatisfaction, using your own lust or desire.

Temptation always starts with dissatisfaction with what you have and then an earnest desire or lust for what you don’t have.

James warns, “But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.” (James 1:14 NKJV).

Any temptation that does not offer you the reward, gain, or pleasure that you desire, lust or longed for is not a big deal.

The devil has to first dangle before your eyes as bait what you strongly desire before he can lure you into following his evil ways. This is the primary way the devil has been tempting man from the Garden of Eden till now.

Therefore, the principal key or secret to living a victorious life in Christ is to know, understand and be fully satisfied with who you are and what you have in Christ. The devil only explores your dissatisfaction and lust to tempt or manipulate you.

If you are completely satisfied with who you are and what you have in Christ, the devil has nothing in you to employ to lure you into temptation to sin (John 14:30).

Knowing that you are complete in Christ disarms all Satan’s lies and deceptions!

God does not promise to fill the believers with His fullness or to make them complete in heaven. While in this world, God has filled and perfected our born-again spirits in Christ.

This is a pivotal truth!

Paul attests to this truth.

Colossians 2:

 9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;

10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power. (NKJV).

The Greek word translated “complete” in this scripture is “pleroo”

It means “to make full, to fill up, i.e. to fill to the full; to cause to abound, to furnish or supply liberally; to render full, i.e. to complete; to fill to the top: so that nothing shall be wanting to full measure, fill to the brim.” (BLB Lexicon).

So, when the Scripture says that “you are complete in Christ” it simply means that you are already full of Christ – fill to the brim, wanting or lacking nothing of Christ. Praise God!

Just as God’s fullness dwells in Christ, God’s fullness now dwells in your born-again or recreated spirit. As Christ is, so are you now in this world (1 John 4:17).

Your born-again spirit is perfectly like Christ in every way because “he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.” (1 Cor. 6:17 NKJV).

Your born-again spirit is presently full of Christ – full of His love, power, glory, wisdom, and wealth. Your born-again spirit is filled to the brim, filled up completely, with Christ.

Everything that is true about Christ is now true about you as a new creation in Christ, for you are now one spirit with Christ. Your born-again spirit lacks absolutely nothing that Christ is or has, for you are now a joint-heir with Christ.

Peter clearly states this truth in his epistle.

2 Peter 1:

3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence. (RSV).

All that you are waiting for is the full redemption, sanctification or perfection of your physical body (Rom. 8:23, 1 Cor. 15:50-57, Phil. 3:20-21) and that of your soul (mind, will and emotions) at the second coming of Jesus Christ into the world (1 Pet. 1:9, John 3:1-3).

Why then are many believers today not manifesting the riches of Christ in their born-again spirits?

Ignorance!

The unrenewed or carnal mind!

The riches of Christ in your spirit cannot manifest in your life without passing through your physical mind where your thoughts, words and actions are processed.

Therefore, if you fail to renew, sanctify or reset your mind by constantly imbibing and meditating upon the teachings or words of Christ, your mind will constantly oppose, doubt, or reject spiritual truths or divine instructions, thereby hindering you from appropriating, enjoying and manifesting the riches of Christ in you (1 Cor. 2:14, Rom. 8:7).

Beloved, stop pursuing, chasing, or running after what you already have or possessed in and through Jesus Christ!

You are complete in Christ. Your born-again spirit already has the fullness of God, just as Jesus Christ has it.

Therefore, arise today and begin to renew your mind increasingly according to the truths of God’s Word and you will begin to appropriate, enjoy and manifest increasingly God’s inexhaustible riches in your spirit.

Prayer: My Dear Heavenly Father, I am so glad to know that I am complete in Christ, filled to the brim in my spirit with all the fullness of God. My Dear Holy Spirit, teach and help me daily to tap into, draw out, and manifest the inexhaustible riches of God in my spirit, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
