THE NEW CREATION

by Jan 16, 2019Blog

The product of the new or spiritual birth is not a better, improved, reformed, or refined old self, but a new creation, a new self, a new being.

Paul clearly states this truth in 2 Corinthians 5:

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. (NKJV).

17 Anyone who is joined to Christ is a new being; the old is gone, the new has come. (GNT).

The Greek word translated “new” in this scripture is “kainos” and it simply means “new in every respect.” As respects form, it implies “recently made, fresh, recent, unused, and unworn.” As respects substance, it implies “new kind, unprecedented, novel, uncommon, unheard of” (BLB Lexicon).

In other words, the day you were born again, a brand new, fresh and unprecedented being came into existence.

What happened to your old or former self who was corrupt, hostile, stubborn and rebellious to God? It is gone forever, having been crucified with Jesus Christ!

Paul affirms this truth in Romans 6:

6 We know that our old self was crucified with him so that the sinful body might be destroyed, and we might no longer be enslaved to sin. (RSV).

What a transformation!

Your daily victory over Sin and Satan lies in you walking in the revelation knowledge that you are now a new creation, person, or being in Christ, by reason of your spiritual union with Christ.

If you fail to acknowledge, embrace, believe and live by the spiritual truth that you are now a New Creation – a new being in Christ with a new, holy and divine nature, divine potentials, new status, exalted position, and unlimited spiritual authority; you will still continue to think, speak, live, operate, struggle and suffer under the tyranny of Sin and Satan as the old being (John 8:32).

What does the Scripture teach about the New Creation?

It is certainly worth finding out!

First, the New Creation Possesses a New, Holy and Divine Nature:

You were born with a sinful, selfish, and corrupt nature inherited from Adam. It was that nature that made you a slave of Sin and Satan. But through the new birth, you have become a partaker of a new, holy and divine nature of God (2 Pet 1:1-4).

The Scripture clearly states this truth in 1 John 3:

9 No one born of God commits sin; for God’s nature abides in him, and he cannot sin because he is born of God. (RSV).

As a New Creation, you are presently and completely divine, holy, kind, loving, gentle and godly in your born-again spirit. The Scripture states that your new spirit was created in God’s image and “after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.” (Eph. 4:24 RSV).

The New Creation doesn’t have two natures – the sinful and holy nature in his heart.

No one can have both!

The New Creation only has God’s kind of nature in his heart. Therefore, the New Creation is no longer a slave of sin, but a slave of righteousness.

The Scripture declares: “And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.” (Rom. 6:18 NKJV).

It is no longer natural or normal for you as a New Creation to practice sins or continue in your former sinful habits (Gal. 5:24).

Second, the New Creation Possesses Eternal or Everlasting life:

In Adam you were dead spiritually – alienated from God’s life, but in Christ you are spiritually alive, possessing God’s kind of life (Zoe).

Everlasting life is not a future promise, but a present reality or possession of the New Creation.

The Scripture states: “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” (John 3:36 NKJV).

The life that a New Creation possesses is Christ Himself, for He is the eternal life!

Jesus said of Himself, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6 NKJV).

It is impossible for anyone to possess or experience eternal life without having Christ Himself.

The Scripture states that “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.” (1 John 5:10-11 NKJV).

Eternal life is the experiential or revelation knowledge of God. It is intimacy with God.

The Scripture testifies, “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. (John 17:3 NKJV).

Eternal life is not a mere spiritual capacity or privilege to spend eternity with God in heaven, but also the spiritual capacity to know God intimately and live an overcoming, victorious, triumphant, prosperous and successful life in this present world as the Lord Jesus did (Rom. 5:17).

Third, the New Creation Possesses the Spirit of Christ:

The spirit in the New Creation is the Spirit of Christ.

Paul testifies that “because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” (Gal. 4:6 NKJV).

The New Creation is not in any way different to Christ in his spirit. This is why the Scripture says: “as He is, so are we in this world.” (1 John 4:17 NKJV).

“But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.” (1 Cor. 6:17 NKJV).

Fourth, the New Creation Possesses the Mind of Christ:

The mind that the New Creation has is the exact mind of Christ; it is not a mind different or inferior to that of Christ by any standard.

The Scripture clearly states that “we have the mind of Christ.” (1 Cor. 2:16 NKJV).

The New Creation “is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.” (Col. 3:10 NKJV).

Therefore, the New Creation knows all things in his regenerated and anointed heart though his physical mind is limited in knowledge (Heb. 8:10-11).

The Scripture said concerning the New Creation, “But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.” (1 John 2:20 NKJV).

“But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.” (1 John 2:27 NKJV).

Fifth, the New Creation is God’s Beloved:

As a New Creation you are unconditionally, completely and eternally loved, favoured, pleasing and acceptable to God in Christ. Through the new birth, you have been plucked out of Adam and engrafted by the Holy Spirit into the Christ, the Son in whom God is well pleased. Having become one with Christ, God loves you as He loves Christ (John 17:23).

Therefore, quit seeking, striving or struggling to impress God or earn God’s love, acceptance, favour or blessing by your self-righteousness, performance or good works. Why?

Because you are already unconditionally, completely and eternally loved by God, accepted by God, favoured by God, and blessed by God in Christ Jesus, His Beloved Son!

The Scripture reveals that God has “predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He has made us accepted in the Beloved.” (Eph. 1:5-6 NKJV).

Sixth, the New Creation is Irrevocably or Eternally Blessed:

The old man or being was a transgressor of God’s law and thus operated under the curse of the law. But, the new creation or being in Christ is a saint, having been justified and washed in the blood of the Lamb of God.

The New Creation is called “the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Cor. 5:21 NKJV). Therefore, he is not under any curse (Gal. 3:12-14). But, he is blessed with the believing Abraham (Gal. 3:9).

The New Creation is a joint heir of God’s blessing with Christ (Rom. 8:17). Having become one with Christ through the new birth, “you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.” (Gal. 4:7 NKJV).

As a New Creation you are irrevocably blessed with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ (Eph. 1:3, 2 Pet. 1:2-3). This is why the Scripture says, “Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours.” (1 Cor. 3:21 NKJV).

All that God has is now yours in Christ. Hallelujah!

Seventh, the New Creation Wields Unlimited Spiritual Power and Authority:

The New Creation is no longer a slave or captive of Sin and Satan, but a king and a priest unto God (Rev. 1:5-6; 5:9-10, Eph. 2:4-7).

By reason of your spiritual union with Christ, you are presently seated in Christ in the heavenly places, “far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.” (Eph. 1:21 NKJV).

The spiritual power or authority of the New Creation is not inferior to that of Christ. The new creation is actually invested with the power and authority of Christ over all the evil forces and powers.

Jesus said, “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19 NKJV).

Therefore, no trial, challenge, adversary or adversity of life is expected to intimidate, oppress, harass or overcome you as a New Creation in Christ (Matt. 10:7-8, 16:19).

It is the destiny of the New Creation to reign in this present life through Christ Jesus.

The Scripture testifies: “For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.” (Rom. 5:17 NKJV).

“And have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth.” (Rev. 5:10 NKJV).

Lastly, the New Creation is God’s Spiritual House on Earth:

As a New Creation, you have become God’s spiritual house or temple on earth (1 Cor. 6:19-20, 2 Cor. 6:16). God is now pleased to dwell in you with all His fullness as He dwelt in Christ while He was on earth (Col. 1:19, 2:9).

The Scripture queries, “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” (1 Cor. 3:16 NKJV).

Because God now lives in you, you need not to seek or search for God anywhere; you are the one carrying God about. You can now fellowship or commune with God anywhere, any day and anytime.

Like Jesus manifested God while He carried God’s fullness on earth, you also must make it your chief aim or priority in life to fully and constantly manifest or reveal God to the world (John 1:18, Isa. 43:7, 21, 1 Pet. 2:9).

Beloved, in Christ you are a brand New Creation; your old self that was corrupt, sinful, fearful, and cursed is gone forever, having being crucified with Christ. Therefore, carefully and thoroughly examine your life today to see if there is still anything associated with the old man lingering on in your life.

Don’t spare, cover, or seek to explain away, or make excuses for any sickness, lack, poverty, failure, depression, anger, fear, worry, anxiety, and such things in your life. They all belong to the old man! Therefore, they have no right to remain with you, the new man.

Friend, you have the right and authority to uproot and evict out of your life anything belonging to the old man. Be very specific, direct, firm and resolute as you command them to leave your life.

Let them know that you are a New Creation and that their former host or friend is dead and gone. Stand your ground and wield your spiritual authority in Christ until there is no trace of anything belonging to the old man in your life.
