YOU ARE BLAMELESS IN GOD’S SIGHT
“And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight.” (Colossians 1:21-22 NKJV)
Your perception is your reality in life. How you see yourself will ultimately affect your relationship with others. More importantly, how you perceive God sees you will definitely affect how you relate with God and how you receive from God.
Your perception influences your prayers. How you see yourself, or how you think God sees you go a long way to affect how you approach God and the confidence you have towards God. It is therefore very necessary for you to see yourself as God sees you in Christ Jesus.
The Scripture amply states the truth that believers in Christ have been sanctified, made holy, or set apart from sin unto God through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ on the cross.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11 – NKJV
9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,
10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
Colossians 1:21-23 – NKJV
21 And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled
22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight–
23 if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.
Hebrews 10:10-14 – KJV
10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
Sadly, many believers today are still totally ignorant of the gospel truth that they are holy, blameless, above reproach, and totally pleasing or acceptable to God in Christ. Consequently, they are always striving and struggling in vain to be holy, pleasing or acceptable to God.
Without you knowing, believing and accepting the truth of God’s Word that you have been washed, justified, sanctified, or made holy by the finished work of Jesus Christ, you will continue to struggle in vain to attain or obtain holiness.
Paul clearly reveals in his epistles that no one can attain or obtain righteousness or holiness by his efforts or the works of the law.
Galatians 2:16-17 – NKJV
16 “knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.
17 “But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore a minister of sin? Certainly not!
Romans 9:30-32 – NKJV
30 What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness of faith;
31 but Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness.
32 Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were, by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling stone.
As a born-again believer in Christ, though you are not yet perfect or fully conformed to Christ in your body, will, mind, thoughts, emotions, actions or character, yet you are presently perfect or fully conformed to Christ in your born-again spirit, for “he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.” (1 Cor. 6:17 NKJV).
While your body and soul are still awaiting perfection or full redemption at the second coming of Christ, your recreated spirit has been perfected – fully redeemed and transformed into the image of Christ (Rom. 8:23, Phil. 3:20-21, 1 Pet. 1:9, 1 John 3:2).
While your vile or lowly body will be transformed so that it may be conformed to the glorious and resurrected body of Jesus Christ and your soul will be perfected at the second return of Christ; however, you will not receive a new spirit. Why?
Because your born-again spirit is already in a state of perfection!
You are already one spirit with Christ!
You are presently having the spirit you will have throughout eternity. Your born-again spirit is identical to the Spirit of Christ (1 Cor. 15:47-49).
Your born-again spirit is presently pure, perfect, blameless, and above reproach in God’s sight. Your recreated spirit is without sin and can never sin or be defiled by sin, for it has been sealed with the Holy Spirit.
Ephesians 1:13-14 – NKJV
13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,
14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.
1 John 3:9 – RSV
9 No one born of God commits sin; for God’s nature abides in him, and he cannot sin because he is born of God.
It is your born-again spirit that has God’s nature!
While people only see you for who you are in the flesh and therefore only judge, treat, or deal with you based on the person you are in the flesh, God does not. Why?
Because God does not see as men see!
1 Samuel 16:7 – NKJV
7 For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.
God is Spirit. God sees and focuses primarily on who you are in the spirit – holy, righteous, perfect, blameless and above reproach in Christ. God deals with you as such.
Colossians 1:21-22 – NKJV

Understanding that God does not see you or seek to deal with you based on who you are in the flesh, but on who you are in the spirit (holy, righteous, perfect, blameless and above reproach in Christ) will radically change your disposition or attitude towards God.
It will also completely eradicate or eliminate fear, shame, guilt or condemnation from your heart when you stand in God’s presence.
The devil primarily applies, employs or uses fear, shame, guilt or condemnation to hold you back from standing boldly in God’s presence and from receiving and appropriating the benefits or blessings of the finished work of Jesus Christ.
When you choose to focus on who you are in the flesh, you are simply carnally minded or walking after the flesh and the devil will find many things he can use to condemn you because you are not without sin in your flesh.
But when you choose to focus on who you are in the spirit (holy, righteous, perfect, blameless and above reproach in Christ), you are spiritually minded or walking according to the Spirit and the devil cannot find anything he can accuse you of because you are without sin in your spirit.
Beloved, you will not enjoy God’s best for your life if you choose to be preoccupied with who you are in the flesh and not who you are in the spirit – in Christ Jesus.
When you are preoccupied or obsessed with your sins, shortcomings, failures, imperfections, or weaknesses in the flesh, you are simply self-conscious and self-centered, and not Christ-conscious and Christ-centered.
When you are preoccupied with who you are in the flesh, you will only regard your time of prayer as a time of wrestling with an unwilling God for blessing, or as a time of petitioning a callous Judge for a divine intervention.
However, when you are preoccupied with who you are in the spirit (your identity in Christ), you will look forward to a time of prayer as a time of enjoying a loving and intimate fellowship or communion with your loving and gracious Heavenly Father.
Friend, God would have you to begin to see yourself as He sees you in Christ – holy, righteous, perfect, blameless and above reproach in His sight. God loves and accepts you completely in Christ in spite of your shortcomings, failures, imperfections or weaknesses in the flesh.
While you are being progressively transformed into the image of Christ in your will, mind, emotions and actions, and waiting for the transformation of your body at the second return of Christ, don’t neglect or despise the truth that you are now fully conformed to Christ in your spirit and so you are holy, righteous, perfect, blameless and above reproach in God’s sight.
God is certainly not ignorant of your sins, struggles, shortcomings, failures, imperfections or weaknesses in the flesh; however, He has chosen not to deal with you based on who you are in the flesh, but based on who you are in Christ – holy, righteous, perfect, blameless and above reproach (Heb. 8:12).
Therefore, embrace today your true identity in Christ and begin to see yourself as God sees you in Christ – holy, righteous, perfect, blameless, and above reproach (Col. 1:21-22).
Prayer: My Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for choosing not to deal with me based on who I am in the flesh but based on who I am in Christ Jesus. My Dear Holy Spirit, teach and help me to begin to think, speak and act in conformity with my true identity in Christ, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
