THE NEW CREATION REALITIES (Part 1)

by Aug 29, 2019August

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV)

The product of the new or spiritual birth is not a better, improved, reformed, or refined old self, but an entirely new creation, a new self, a new being, in Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. (NKJV).

2 Corinthians 5:

17 Anyone who is joined to Christ is a new being; the old is gone, the new has come. (GNT).

The Greek word translated “new” in this scripture is “kainos” and it simply means “new in every respect.”

As respects form, it implies “recently made, fresh, recent, unused, and unworn.” As respects substance, it implies “new kind, unprecedented, novel, uncommon, unheard of” (Thayer’s Greek Lexicon).

In other words, the day you were born again, a brand new, fresh and unprecedented being came into existence.

What happened to your old or former self, who was corrupt, hostile, stubborn and rebellious to God?

It is gone forever, having been crucified with Jesus Christ!

Romans 6:

6 We know that our old self was crucified with him so that the sinful body might be destroyed, and we might no longer be enslaved to sin. (RSV).

Your daily victory over Sin and Satan lies in you walking in the revelation knowledge of the truth that you are now a New Creation by reason of your spiritual union with Christ.

If you fail to acknowledge, embrace, believe and live by the spiritual truth that you are now a new creation – a new being with a new, holy and divine nature, divine potentials, new status, exalted position, and unlimited spiritual authority – you will still continue to think, speak, live, operate, struggle and suffer under the tyranny of Sin and Satan as the old being (John 8:32).

What does the Scripture teach about the new creation?

It is worth finding out!

First, the new creation possesses a new, holy and divine nature:

You were born with a sinful, selfish, and corrupt nature inherited from Adam. It was that nature that made you a slave of Sin and Satan.

But through the new birth, you have now become a partaker of a new, holy and divine nature of God (2 Pet 1:1-4).

1 John 3:

9 No one born of God commits sin; for God’s nature abides in him, and he cannot sin because he is born of God. (RSV).

The Scripture states that your new spirit was created in God’s image and “after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.” (Eph. 4:24 RSV).

The new creation does not have two natures – the sinful and holy nature in his heart. No one can have both!

The New Creation has only God’s kind of nature in his heart. Therefore, the new creation is no longer a slave of sin, but a slave of righteousness.

Romans 6:

17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered.

18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. (NKJV).

It is no longer natural or normal for you as a new creation in Christ to practice sins or continue in your former sinful habits(Gal. 5:24).

Second, the new creation possesses eternal or everlasting life:

In Adam, you were dead spiritually – alienated from God’s life, but now in Christ, you are spiritually alive, possessing God’s kind of life (Zoe).

Everlasting life is not a future promise, but a present reality or possession of the new creation in Christ!

John 3:

36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him. (NKJV).

The life that a new creation possesses is Christ Himself, for He is the eternal life.

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6 NKJV).

It is impossible for anyone to possess or experience eternal life without having Christ Himself.

The Scripture states that “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.” (1 John 5:10-11 NKJV).

Eternal life is experiential or revelation knowledge of God. It is fellowship or intimacy with God!

Jesus said, “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. (John 17:3 NKJV).

Eternal life is not a mere spiritual capacity or privilege to spend eternity with God in heaven, but also the spiritual capacity to know God intimately and live an overcoming, victorious, triumphant, prosperous and successful life in this present world, even as the Lord Jesus Christ did.

Third, the new creation possesses the Spirit of Christ:

The new creation has the Spirit of Christ.

Romans 8:

9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. (NKJV).

Galatians 4:

6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” (NKJV).

Also, as a new creation, you are perfectly like Christ in your recreated or born-again spirit.

1 Corinthians 6:

17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. (NKJV).

1 Corinthians 15:

48 As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. (NKJV).

1 John 4:

17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. (NKJV).

Fourth, the new creation possesses the mind of Christ:

The new creation has the mind of Christ. Your born-again spirit is renewed in knowledge after the image of Christ.

1 Corinthians 2:

16 For “who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ. (NKJV).

The new creation “is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.” (Col. 3:10 NKJV).

Therefore, the new creation knows all things in his regenerated and anointed heart, though his physical mind is limited in knowledge (Heb. 8:10-11).

John the Beloved clearly states this truth.

1 John 2:

20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.

27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. (NKJV).

Fifth, the new creation in Christ is God’s Beloved:

As a new creation, you are unconditionally, completely and eternally loved, favoured, pleasing and acceptable to God in Christ (John 17:23).

The Scripture reveals that God has “predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He has made us accepted in the Beloved.” (Eph. 1:5-6 NKJV).

Beloved, quit seeking, striving or struggling to impress God or to earn God’s love, acceptance, favour or blessing by your self-righteousness, performance, or good works. Why?

Because as a new creation you are unconditionally, completely and eternally loved by God, accepted by God, favoured by God, and blessed by God in Christ Jesus – His Beloved Son!

Prayer: My Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me unconditionally, accepting me completely, favoring and blessing me eternally in the Son of Your love, Christ Jesus. Dear Holy Spirit, teach and help me daily to live as the new creation, one who is unconditionally and eternally loved and accepted by God in Christ, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
