GOOD NEWS OF GREAT JOY

GOOD NEWS OF GREAT JOY

About 2000 years ago, an angel of the Lord suddenly appeared to some shepherds who were living out in the fields around Bethlehem, keeping watch over their flock by night.

It was indeed an unusual and awesome night, for the glory of the Lord shone around them and a multitude of the heavenly host joined them, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” (Luke 2:13-14 NKJV). What a holy and memorable night! What was the divine visitation and celebration all about? Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world was born!

HINDRANCES TO TRUE SPIRITUAL GROWTH (Part 2)

Church leaders certainly wield a great influence over the people of God. If the pastor’s ultimate purpose and pursuit is the spiritual growth and transformation of the believers under his authority into Christ-likeness, the believers under his influence will certainly desire and pursue spiritual growth above anything else.

It is however sad but true that many of our church leaders today are primarily concerned about the numerical and financial growth of their church, and not about the spiritual growth of the believers under them…

HINDRANCES TO TRUE SPIRITUAL GROWTH (Part 1)

Every normal parent takes delight in the healthy growth and development of his child. Parents derive a sort of pleasure, joy, or fulfillment in watching their children grow up in every aspect of life into responsible adults who can be trusted with responsibility and authority.

Parents take special pride or delight in speaking about their children’s healthy growth and development, successes and achievements in life. Likewise, God takes delight in His children healthy growth and development. God loves to see every believer grow up in all things into Christ. God has made abundant provision in the Church for every born-again believer to grow up in all things into Christ…

TRUE SPIRITUAL GROWTH (Part 2)

TRUE SPIRITUAL GROWTH (Part 2)

Growth is defined as development from a lower or simpler to a higher or more complex form; an increase, as in size, number, value, or strength; extension or expansion (The American Heritage Dictionary).

Naturally, this definition is true, but spiritually it is not true or applicable! True spiritual growth cannot be defined or measured in terms of increase in size, volume, number, value, or strength. The new creation is one with Christ and is complete in Christ, filled with the fullness of Christ at the new birth. The Scripture teaches that the born-again believers have already possessed all things that pertain to life and godliness in their regenerated spirits through their spiritual union with Christ Jesus…

TRUE SPIRITUAL GROWTH (Part 1)

TRUE SPIRITUAL GROWTH (Part 1)

The general but wrong concept of spiritual growth in the Church today is that the believers are born again into God’s kingdom as spiritual babes or infants, who then grow up into maturity as they feed regularly on God’s Word, fellowship daily with God in prayer, and participate in diverse spiritual activities in the Church.

This concept of spiritual growth presupposes that at the point of spiritual generation the born-again believers, the new creations, are not perfectly like Christ in their born-again spirit, or at best just “a miniature Christ”. Therefore the emphasis of this wrong concept of spiritual growth is on the growth, increase, development or maturity of the inward man, the believer’s born-again spirit…

PUT ON THE WHOLE ARMOUR OF GOD (Part 3)

PUT ON THE WHOLE ARMOUR OF GOD (Part 3)

It takes taking up, putting on, and putting to use the whole armour of God for the believers to stand against the wiles or schemes of the devil, and to appropriate, enforce, defend, demonstrate or manifest the absolute victory that Jesus Christ has won for them and given to them through His death on the cross.

One of the major causes of defeat that many believers are experiencing in their battles against the devil is their ignorance to discern, recognize or understand what the whole armour of God at their disposal is and how to put it on and put it to effective use in spiritual warfare…
