THE PURPOSE OF THE LAW (Part 2)

THE PURPOSE OF THE LAW (Part 2)

Many religious folks today, like the Jews of old, are using the law wrongly for the purpose it was not intended for. The Jews stumbled because they were bent on using the law as a means of righteousness, to earn or obtain salvation from God.

Sadly, many religious people today are also stumbling because they are striving to keep the law in order to earn or merit God’s love, acceptance, favour, or blessing (Rom. 9:30-32, 10:1-4). The Scripture clearly teaches that the law was given primarily to serve as our tutor, guardian or schoolmaster until the coming of Jesus Christ, the Saviour. The law was not designed to be our saviour, justifier or deliverer…

THE PURPOSE OF THE LAW (Part 1)

THE PURPOSE OF THE LAW (Part 1)

Jesus Christ and His teaching became “a stumbling block” to the Jews because they were bent on using the law God gave them through Moses for the purpose it was not meant or intended for.

The Jews wrongly sought to use the law as a means of righteousness, to attain a right standing with God, and to earn God’s love, acceptance, favour and blessings. They erroneously believed and concluded that the law was given to them for their justification or salvation. Paul exposes their ignorance in his epistle to the Christians at Rome…

LET CHRIST LIVE IN YOU

LET CHRIST LIVE IN YOU

A call to be a Christian is not essentially a call to live for Christ, but rather a call to let Christ live in you and manifest Himself through you. There is a great difference between striving to live for Christ and yielding yourself to Christ so that He may live in you and manifest Himself through you.

Sadly, many believers today are primarily concerned about living for Christ rather than letting Christ live in them and manifest His life through them. They focus on working for God rather than walking with God, on doing something for God rather than being who God has called them to be in Christ…

YOU ARE COMPLETE IN CHRIST

YOU ARE COMPLETE IN CHRIST

You cannot fall into temptation to sin without first being dissatisfied and drawn away or enticed by your own lust or desire. James writes, “But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.” (James 1:14 NASB).

Adam and Eve fell into Satan’s temptation to eat the forbidden fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil because they were dissatisfied with who they were and what they had in God, and were carried away and enticed by their own lust. The only bait Satan dangled before Adam and Eve was the opportunity to become like someone else – like God, who they were already…

STOP CHASING AFTER THE SHADOW

STOP CHASING AFTER THE SHADOW

There is a great difference between a body and a shadow. A shadow is never as important as the body who casts it. The Greek word “skia” translated “shadow” in the New Testament was often used to express anything “imperfect or unsubstantial.” But, the Greek word “soma” translated “body” was used in opposite sense to express anything “substantial, solid, and firm” (Adam Clarke’s Commentary).

The word “shadow” means “a faint indication.” When used as a verb it means “to represent vaguely, mysteriously, or prophetically” (New A.H. Dict.). It is a sheer foolishness for anyone to continue to pursue, follow, hold unto or cling to the shadow when the body which casts the shadow is available or has manifested fully. Jesus Christ is the body which casts all the Old Testament shadows!

TWO KINDS OF LIFE

TWO KINDS OF LIFE

Simply put, what Jesus Christ came to give or offer the fallen mankind is “Life” If what Jesus Christ came to give us is life, it simply means that life is all that we need! But does this mean we didn’t have life before Jesus Christ came into the world?

Obviously, we have life but not God’s kind of life! We were born with a natural or physical life. But what Jesus came to give us is divine or supernatural life, the kind of life that God has in Himself (John 5:21, 26). How is the divine life Jesus came to give us different from the natural life we were born with?
